This study examines the practices of instilling the values of piety and tolerance at Phatnawitya School, through their integration into the curriculum and school activities. It also explores the challenges faced in creating an environment that values diversity in both the school and the broader multicultural community. Utilizing a qualitative approach and case study methodology, this research gathers both primary and secondary data. The findings indicate that Islamic education at Phatnawitya School plays a crucial role in nurturing piety and tolerance among students through the Islamic religious curriculum, extracurricular activities, and student empowerment programs. This educational approach has successfully fostered an environment conducive to student social development. It examines the impact of Aqidah Akhlaq lessons on students' religious expression, taking into account the influence of the madrasah educational environment, individual differences, and societal factors. Data were collected from a cohort of 24 ninth-grade students at MTs. Integrated Ar-Roihan Lawang Malang, comprising both female and male participants, and analyzed to identify patterns of religious expression across two sample writing sessions. The findings highlight various dimensions of religious expression, including direct relationships with Allah, reflections on Islamic teachings, ethical values, and spiritual devotion. The influence of religious knowledge on expression is underscored, as students' understanding deepens and authenticates their faith-based articulations. The results indicate that religious education nurtures linguistic proficiency, thoughtful contemplation, and alignment with Islamic moral values. Employing a qualitative library research approach, this investigation delves into the concept and implementation of religious moderation, seeking to understand how it can foster moderate religious attitudes and mitigate tensions within pluralistic communities. The article encompasses an analysis of various sources, including perspectives from the Qur'an and Hadith, as well as a wide range of related literature. These sources, including books, journals, and other relevant materials, were collected and analyzed to produce a scholarly article. The findings suggest that religious moderation holds significant potential to bridge differences and cultivate unity in multicultural societies. The study highlights the necessity for a more comprehensive approach to Islamic education that incorporates the principles of religious moderation into the curriculum. Additionally, an understanding of religious moderation is also crucial at the family, community, and higher education levels to develop attitudes of tolerance and a balanced approach to religious life. This study examines the revitalization efforts in Bengkulu's post-independence era, focusing on the dynamics and challenges encountered in developing Muhammadiyah's educational initiatives. It explores how the Muhammadiyah organization navigated and addressed the educational challenges of the time, enabling the community in Bengkulu City to pursue quality education. Employing a historical approach, this research aggregates data from various sources, including key figures and relevant references related to Muhammadiyah education. The findings reveal that the initial phase of Muhammadiyah's educational development was marked by minimal infrastructure and a shortage of teaching personnel, coupled with the integration of private educational institutions with government schools due to state policies. Through curriculum strengthening and support from the community and government, both morally and spiritually, Muhammadiyah educational institutions emerged as vital forces in combating illiteracy. This study concludes that post-independence Muhammadiyah education played a pivotal role in the intellectual upliftment of the marginalized communities and the organizational development efforts of Muhammadiyah. The implications of this research are significant for the formulation of educational policies, as Muhammadiyah's educational endeavors are strategically important in achieving excellence in education.</p> 2023-12-31T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2023 Jurnal Pendidikan Agama Islam (Journal of Islamic Education Studies) Reflective Teaching Practice: Insight(s) from Indonesia’s Pesantren 2024-03-23T06:10:37+00:00 Bassam Abul A'la Xiaohui Sun Masdar Hilmy Suryani Suryani <p>Reflective teaching (RT) is a strategy used by teachers to improve their professionalism in the learning process. This indicator has long been debated and investigated in the field of education. However, few have examined the realm of Islamic education institutions, which have distinct qualities. As a result, the purpose of this study was conducted to investigate how teachers in Indonesian Islamic education institution implement RT. Quantitative questionnaires were administered via Google Forms, and semi-structured interviews were conducted via online focus group discussions (FGDs). This study included 19 pesantren teachers from Indonesia's Java, Sumatra, and Sulawesi Islands. The findings revealed that pesantren teachers used three types of reflection positively well. All the six RT indicators for teacher were proved to be significant. RT in Islamic education institution has been shown to apply Kyai's guidance as one of several techniques for improving teaching quality.
